Not only did it increase my understanding of the European Union (as was the aim of the course) it broadened my international outlook and gave me the opportunity to experience a myriad of cultures.

How did you find the Summer School, academically?

jackTeaching consisted of a class from 09:15 to around 13:00 every day. Classes included short lectures on specific topics, then small group activities and a short presentation by a student on a relative topic.

What extra-curricular activities did you take part in?

Museum visits. Pub crawl. Trip to Amsterdam for the weekend.

What was the accommodation like?

I increased my international network of friends, I have a better understanding of a new international culture, I have developed a better understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses, The experience has increased my interest in international traveljack

Did the experience enhance your international outlook?

Overall the experience was incredibly rewarding. Not only did it increase my understanding of the European Union (as was the aim of the course) it broadened my international outlook and gave me the opportunity to experience a myriad of cultures.

How would you describe the experience overall and why?

Denmark has a high standard of living and as such has a greater cost of living, overall spending money for the trip was around £700. No preparatory work is required and admittedly I didn't attempt to learn the language given the shortness of the trip and the Danes' generally high proficiency in English.

I wouldn't say any social event in particular is a must-see just make sure to take advantage of all opportunities that you can. A great and relatively cheap activity is to hire a bike and take a nice cycle along the coast.

What advice do you have for future students attending this summer school?

jackMake sure to familiarise yourself with the laws of the country you visit as they may be a lot different to those of the uk. Consider getting a travel credit card as many banks charge a lot for taking our non steeling money. Also research how you’re going to travel around the city/ country and consider getting a travel card at the airport if this is available. Don’t forget to get the relevant vaccinations.

Did the summer school meet your expectations?

All round excellent experience

How much of your own money did you need to spend during the summer school?

£450 as we needed to pay for transport around the island as well as three meals a day

What was the name of your course?
