TechNet Event: Celebrating Our Technical Staff

Collage of some University of Sheffield technicians

12th October 2017
Firth Hall, 12.00 - 2.00pm
Lunch included

TechNet are delighted to announce the October networking event which is a celebration of our professional, talented and diverse technicians here at the University of Sheffield.

The event will feature the presentation of the Employer Champion award by Belinda Phipps, CEO of the Science Council to our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Keith Burnett FRS on behalf of the University of Sheffield. This award demonstrates our university’s commitment to the technical workforce and their continued development.

The University is also proud to celebrate it's support for "The Technician Commitment" which is a sector-wide initiative led by the Science Council and supported by the Gatsby Foundation. It aims to help address key challenges facing technical staff working in research.

As part of the Technician Commitment, five target areas have been identified, where universities and institutions will work to safeguard vital technical skills. The commitment will ensure greater visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians across all disciplines. The University is fully committed to this initiative.

Within the event there will be a presentation of awards to our recently professionally registered technicians and also well deserved recognition to our technical apprentices. This will be followed by a showcase of some of our technical staffs work.

We hope you will be able to support this event.

A full programme for the event will be available soon.
