A Career in Speech and Language Therapy

A free virtual taster session for Y13 students.

This session will re-introduce you to the profession of Speech and Language Therapy. We'll provide you with an overview of our Speech and Language Therapy programme here at Sheffield; outlining the modules you will study and the clinical placements that you will complete.

We will then take an in-depth look at one area of communication - speech sound difficulties in children. You will learn about how we work with children and their families to help them with their speech production.

Finally, we'll share our top tips for applying to train as a speech and language therapist and you'll have an opportunity to talk to current students. By the end of this session you should be able to: - describe the role of a speech and language therapist - understand the components of a speech and language therapy training programme - identify actions to help prepare your application.
