International experience: You could study or work abroad, do international research, attend a summer school at one of our partner universities or learn a language. You can even combine all of these.

Spending time abroad: Many of our degrees include a built-in year abroad; others give you the option to decide once you've started your studies. With more than 70 agreements world-wide, our life-changing Study Abroad programme offers you the chance to study in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore or the USA. Most of our students are eligible to apply.

Our Students' Union also provides many global opportunities, including volunteering abroad and joining international student societies.

Sheffield Students’ Union plays a key role in the lives of our students providing support, representation, activities and entertainment for all. That’s why it has been recognised as the best since 2009.

There are five sites with library facilities across the University and you’ll have access to all of them: Western Bank Library, the Information Commons and The Diamond (on campus); and The Health Services Library (at the Royal Hallamshire and the Northern General Hospitals).

The Diamond and the Information Commons are great places to meet up and work together. The Diamond is open round the clock and is unrivalled for its innovation in study facilities. The Information Commons is also open all day every day and has 1,300 study spaces.

The majority of our accommodation (85%) is in one of the UK's most affluent districts. Most of it is new (2007–2009) and purpose built. 82% of our rooms are en suite. The student residences are walking distance from campus and we have places in the city centre, just a short walk from lectures.
