I studied Geography at Durham University followed by an MSc in Spatial Data Analysis at the same University and an MPhil in Town and Country Planning from the Bartlett School. I then went on to professional experience with Halcrow Fox and Associates and Tameside M.B.C.

I spent two years as a Research Associate in the School of Geography at the University of Manchester and, more latterly, as a Senior Research Fellow with the South East Regional Research Laboratory at Birkbeck College.

My teaching interests include local government and the British planning system. My research has focused on the evaluation of planning policy, housing market processes and labour market analysis.
