While PDFs are a commonly-used format for displaying documents online, you make want to think twice about using them on the new CMS.
You are strongly encouraged to avoid using PDFs where possible. Instead, we recommend that any useful course content from a PDF is recreated as a web page.
Are there any exceptions?
The user needs to print off the document, eg. a map
The content has a specific visual appearance
The material is hard to convert in a useful way to a web page
The material is excessively large or complicated
If so, remember to include the document type and size when linking your file, eg: Download printable campus map (PDF, 12MB)
Although there is a range of PDF flipbooks available on the web, we advise against using these as they are not supported in the new CMS.
