User roles

A summary of the user roles available in the New CMS.

Group owner

  • Usually two per website
  • Has lead responsibility for the Group website
  • Can create and edit most Content types
  • Provides guidance to Group editors
  • Can grant access to their Group for an existing New CMS user
  • Can remove access to their Group for an existing Group member

Group editor

  • Usually two per website
  • Is responsible for making Group website updates in conjunction with Group owner
  • Can edit most Content types
  • Can create some Content types

Group admin

  • This role is usually for faculty staff who require access to many Group websites
  • It shares the same permissions as Group owner
  • Is responsible for making Group website updates when necessary in conjunction with Group owner

On the Members tab you can see a list of the people with access to your Group website and the role they have been allocated.
