Alfred Denny Museum

Event details

Saturday 2 September 2023
Tickets are free.

The Alfred Denny Museum is temporarily closed due to potential problems uncovered during maintenance work. We apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment. We love opening our doors and showing the Museum to the public, but the Health and Safety of our visitors and tour guides must come first. The website will be updated as soon as we have guidance on when we can re-open and when tours can restart.

Named after the department's first professor of biology, Alfred Denny, the museum was established in 1905 and has been used for undergraduate teaching for more than 100 years. Many of the specimens have been in the museum since the early 1900s when collecting was at its peak.

The Alfred Denny Museum is usually open for guided tours at 10am, 11am and 12pm on the first Saturday of each month. There are only 25 places per tour, so we recommend that you book early.
