He tells us how our course prepared him for life as a community nurse at St Luke’s Hospice, providing palliative care for people with terminal illnesses. Orthoptics You get to see many different possible extended roles on placement Shasshen L Current student, BMedSci Orthoptics Shasshen is in the final year of his Orthoptics degree. In this blog, he shares his experiences of attending clinical placements up-and-down the UK, and the benefits - both personal and professional - they’ve given him. How did I not know about this? This is an incredible career! Alis Sejourne Graduate, BMedSci Orthoptics After initially applying for a dentistry course, Alis was introduced to the world of orthoptics through Clearing. The course brought together her passions, and has allowed her continue to improve and upskill as a qualified orthoptist. The clinical placements are the most rewarding aspect of the course Thomas Arends Undergraduate, Orthoptics Thomas Arends, an Orthoptics student here at Sheffield, says that going to work in a clinic helped him put all the skills he learned on the course into practice. I really enjoy the mix of theory and practical that is involved in studying orthoptics Jessica Dee Undergraduate Student, BMedSci Orthoptics Sheffield was a big move for Jessica, but it is a decision she has never regretted. She found that orthoptics is the perfect course for her and now she can’t imagine doing anything else. Placements helped me gain so much more confidence in my clinical ability Alisha Bycroft Graduate, BMedSci Orthoptics Alisha had dreams of working in healthcare since she was a child. After considering her options for university she discovered orthoptics, and her future clicked into place. The University has excellent facilities Charlotte Smith Undergraduate, Orthoptics Charlotte Smith says that the University has everything she needs, from the resources in the Medical Library to the clinical equipment. If you are passionate and considering studying for a degree, don’t doubt being a mature student at University Alisha Mature student, Orthoptics with Foundation Year BMedSci Alisha returned to education to study BMedSci Orthoptics with Foundation Year with the Lifelong learning team after taking part in our Discover course. The foundation year course allowed Alisha to access the course that had interested her without the standard and course-specific entry qualifications. Speech and Language First-class teaching from professionals Alycia Lim Undergraduate, Speech and Language Therapy Alycia Lim is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She chose the University of Sheffield both for the high calibre of the teaching and the wide range of facilities on offer at the Students' Union. Why study a degree in Speech and Language Therapy?
