Chris Burkhill obituary
Born 1975, died 2016. A graduate of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BSc Microbiology 1997).
Chris was raised in Northamptonshire but moved to Sheffield to attend university, and stayed in the city for 12 years after his graduation in 1997.
Being very active in Sheffield’s social scene, he and a friend were instrumental in creating and promoting ‘The Remedy’, an experimental music night held at ‘The Arches’ venue in the city.
Chris also loved spending time walking in the peak district, and completed the Pennine Walk solo within a couple of weeks.
After going on a yearlong trip around the world, Chris settled in Wellington New Zealand where he worked as a Medical Radiation Technologist. He also earned a distinction in completing his Masters in Medical Radiation from Monash University.
Moving to Australia, Chris began work as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in hospitals in Gladstone and Rockhampton, Queensland, which he enjoyed very much and quickly settled into life on the Gold Coast.
Chris was a generous, outgoing and fun loving person who never had a bad word for anyone and who could brighten any situation with his unique sense of humour. The best brother and son anyone could wish for – he will be greatly missed.
