Dr Pam Lakey
Born 1933, died 2015. A graduate of the School of Medicine (MB ChB Medicine 1957).
Pam's long and accomplished life began in Worcestershire in 1933. Later, she studied Medicine at Sheffield University where she met John.
They married in 1955 and moved to Kent in 1960 where Pam's three children and four grandchildren were all born.
Pam worked as a community doctor supporting disabled children, young people and their families. Pam was an important influence in promoting multi-agency working, including setting up Crossroads Care Service and establishing the 'Valiant Swimming Club' at the hydrotherapy pool in Strood.
Throughout her life, Pam enjoyed sailing, camping, bird-watching and travelling the world, as well as being a talented needle-woman. Together Pam and John forged long-lasting friendships wherever they ventured.
