Credits and Grades

Each unit of study (module) has associated with it a number of credits. The assessment of each unit of study will be given as a grade expressed as a whole number on the following numerical scale:

Grades Meaning
69.5 - 100 Work at this level leads to consideration for the award of MSc with distinction.
59.5 - 69 Work at this level leads to consideration for the award of MSc with merit
50 - 59 Work of a standard appropriate to the award of the degree of MSc.
40 - 49 Fail at MSc level, no credits awarded.
1 - 39 Fail - no credits awarded, a candidate with any module at this level may not be recommended for the award of a MSc degree.
0 Work not submitted, or insufficient work to make any assessment.

To obtain the credits for a unit of study, you must obtain at least a grade 50 for the unit. A grade below 40 in any unit of study means that the MSc cannot be awarded regardless of performance on other modules.
