Sheffield Pride 2016: The power of being visible

This Saturday (30 July 2016) we are once again supporting Sheffield Pride. Colleagues from the LGBT staff network, the Students’ Union and Open@TUoS will host a stall at the festival’s marketplace and we will be joining the Pride march from Ecclesall Road.

Pride

To coincide with Sheffield Pride, the rainbow flag is flying at Firth Court. The flag shows our support for Sheffield Pride and is a powerful symbol of inclusion and welcome to many, not only LGBT staff and students.

Supporting Sheffield Pride is just one way we choose to show our commitment to inclusion in the workplace.

700 colleagues from across the University are now wearing rainbow lanyards showing their support for LGBT equality, as part of our allies programme - Open@TUOS. Speaking at the Open@TUoS launch event back in January 2016, Professor Gill Valentine said that creating an open and inclusive environment is everyone's responsibility.
