It is the University's policy as an employer to treat all people with dignity and respect, equally irrespective of any of the 'Protected Characteristics' as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
The Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Practice for Staff includes a statement from University Council which lays out our commitment to equal treatment of all individuals on the basis of relevant merits and abilities. This is addressed within our Excellence Through Inclusion Strategy
The University defines personal harassment as any behaviour which is unacceptable to the recipient and which creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment for employment, study or social life.

All staff are encouraged to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
The University has a Flexible Working Policy available to all, with guidance available for Managers and all staff. Other relevant guidance is available for volunteering, civic and public duties and flexibility in relation to the Sheffield Professional.
In addition staff have access to our free Juice programme, and are entitled to discounts on a range of health and well-being offers.
Family Friendly Support
The University is committed to helping working parents to balance work and family life, whilst this is compatible with the interests of the University.
