Annual & Additional Leave
The amount of annual leave you are entitled to is dependent on your Grade.
Staff on Grades 1 - 6 – 27 days pro rata
Staff on Grades 7 - 9 – 30 days pro rata
In addition, you also benefit from 3 days leave between Christmas and New Year when the University closes.
(Please note that annual leave and closure days are pro rata for part time staff).
Additional Annual Leave
You also have the option of purchasing up to 10 additional days annual leave each year (pro rata for part time staff). The cost is spread over 12 months.
The Bike Scheme is a Government backed initiative which enables you to save on the cost of a bicyle and safety accessories which are suitable for commuting to work. This enables you to make savings on the amount of Tax and National Insurance you pay.
The bike scheme is open from 1 September 2020 until 30 June 2021 and will re open from September 2021.

Shop & Save
Our Shop & Save scheme enables you to make savings or earn shopping rewards by shopping from the comfort of your own home or on the go through your mobile phone. From electronics to fashion to food and holidays, grab discounts and earn shopping rewards from your favourite high street shops. There are large a range of instant e-codes which you can purchase on your phone whilst out and about.
You can save on the cost of travelling to work with the University's discounted tram and bus travel.
We also operate a car share scheme.
Give as you earn
Give As You Earn is our charitable giving scheme, which helps you to give back to the wider community. By making a regular donation directly from your salary, you save on tax.
Following the Government's introduction of Tax Free Childcare, the Childcare Voucher scheme is closed to new joiners.
If you are already enrolled and receiving vouchers, you can continue to do so for as long as you are eligible.

As a member of staff at the University of Sheffield you have access to one of our generous pension schemes. There are two main schemes available; the University of Sheffield Pension Scheme (USPS) for staff on grades 1 to 5, and the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) for staff on grade 6 and above.
We understand that whatever age or career stage you are at, planning your financial future is extremely important. To help aid your understanding and take control of your financial future, you can attend free financial education seminars for staff which are delivered on site.
There are different seminars to choose from depending on what stage of your career you are at and which pension scheme you are contributing to.
As part of the University's commitment to supporting your financial wellbeing, we are working with an external provider, Neyber. Neyber Ltd is a provider of financial employee benefits and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The arrangements are at no cost or financial benefit to the University. Neyber are able to offer you a fair and responsible way to borrow money from them at a preferential rate, for you to be able to manage and/or consolidate any existing personal debts. The University arranges the salary-deducted loan repayments and passes the funds over to Neyber.

As a University of Sheffield employee you can benefit from joining the Westfield Health Scheme. The University is working with Westfield Health to make it possible for all staff to access affordable health cover for a small monthly cost. This includes money back up to set limits on optical check ups, dental appointments and private consultations.
