Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work. It can include items such as safety helmets, gloves and eye protection. Protective clothing such as Hard Hats and Laboratory coats fall within the terms of the definition, but clothing provided which is not specifically designed to protect the health and safety of the wearer does not. It also includes respiratory protective equipment (RPE) used to control hazards not to eliminate nuisance smells.
