These corpora were created by Mark Davies, Professor of Linguistics at Brigham Young University. They have many different uses, including: finding out how native speakers speak and write; looking at language variation and change; and finding the frequency of words, phrases, and collocates.
Access is available directly from this page by connecting to the corpus.byu.edu website - you'll be prompted to log in to MUSE as necessary.
You'll also need to create a personal profile (use your University of Sheffield email address, and choose a unique password) by following the instructions on the corpus.byu.edu website. You can then access the resource from anywhere by logging in to your profile. However, if you log in to your profile from on campus (or if you are off campus, but connect via the link on this page), you will be able to carry out additional queries and your session won't be interrupted by advertisments or messages.
If you experience any difficulties in using this eResource please call the Library HelpDesk on extension 27200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
