A candidate shall pass the Foundation Year if the average mark in each unit is at or above the pass mark. A student who fails any unit at the first attempt may enter for a subsequent examination in respect of the unit on no more than one occasion.

A student who achieves a weighted average grade of 60% or higher will automatically progress to level one in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. Progression for students who pass the Foundation Year but fail to achieve this grade will be at the discretion of the Admissions Tutor for Physics & Astronomy.
