The emphasis of the module is in understanding how psychological theories are created and tested by experiments on behaviour. Insights from cognitive neuropsychology and brain imaging are introduced where appropriate. The course will build on student's existing knowledge of early models of cognitive psychology and introduce recent work that extends our understanding of the mind and throws up new questions.
