Want to learn a language? 'Languages for All' is for you!
The 'Languages for All' programme offers you the opportunity to learn a new language or enhance existing language skills. Check out the fantastic range of opportunities available and how to get involved now, by visiting the Languages Gateway.
If you are looking to improve your conversational skills, prepare for a year abroad or want to build language skills for your future career, Languages for All is for you. We offer one of the widest ranges of language choices in any UK university, with 20 languages to choose from.
You can study a language module for credit within your degree programme or if you don’t have any unrestricted module choice you can also take modules on top of your 120 credits potentially for no extra charge. To find out more about this and see if you’re eligible visit the Languages for All website.
In addition, the Students' Union offers a more informal way to study, through one of the 5-week courses offered as part of the 'Give It A Go' programme and the Confucius Institute also offer a number of courses in Mandarin, ranging from 1 week intensive programmes to semester long courses.
If you study a language course on top of your 120 credits then you may be able to include this in your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report), so your aspiration and effort can be formally recognised. Find out more on the HEAR website.
The majority of courses start at the beginning of the semester, so don’t miss out on your chance to get involved.
For French, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Portuguese & Latin you can register with the Modern Languages Teaching Centre either online from Tuesday 1st September, or in person at their registration event on Monday 28th September.
For all other languages please contact the department directly to arrange registration.
