Celebrating success at the Student Employee of the Year Awards 2014
Lewis Yates, studying BEng Civil Engineering with Employment Experience at the University of Sheffield, has been crowned the overall national winner at the Student Employee of the Year Awards 2014.
Lewis beat out over 700 nominees from nearly 60 institutions to take home the prestigious national prize. He won the award in recognition for his exemplary work in the Alumni office as an Alumni Fund Student Caller.
He said: ‘Winning a national competition is a huge honour, and a massive surprise; I’m extremely grateful to my colleagues at the Alumni Fund for nominating me… my part-time job was an overwhelmingly positive experience from which I learned a great deal. To be the winner of this award is icing on the cake - I can include this on my CV to showcase my work, this is definitely something I hope to build on throughout my career.’
Lewis’ award wasn’t the only commendation of the night, either. The Sheffield Students’ Union Welcome Desk and Box Office also took home the award for ‘On Campus Employer of the Year’.
The Careers Service Jobshop team would like to congratulate Lewis Yates and the Student Union Welcome Desk and Box Office for their outstanding achievements and all of the students and employers that received nominations for the awards.
The SEOTY awards aim to recognise and promote the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who combine part-time work with their study commitments.
