A statement from the University regarding the Inox Dine Occupation

Firth CourtPlease find below a statement from the University regarding the recent occupation of Inox Dine on Level 5 of the Students' Union Building:

You may be aware of the occupation of Inox Dine in the Students’ Union Building this week, which has now ended.

While the impact of this has been relatively contained, we have a duty to make sure we are as prepared as possible to keep any future issues to a minimum, and also fully in line with the University’s long-established position that we entirely respect the right of individuals to protest peacefully and within the law.

That is why we have today taken out a possession order which covers our entire University estate. This order means we can respond quickly and effectively to any future occupations, and allows us to continue with the activities and functions of the University.

Across our University we pride ourselves on the strong relationship we have with our students, including through close collaboration with the elected Students’ Union Officers. We are committed to this continued and positive engagement into the future.
