Stanley Hauerwas - Duke University
Professor Stanley Hauerwas is a prominent American theologian, ethicist, and a legal scholar. Having received his Doctorate of Divinity from the University of Edinburgh he taught at Notre Dame before taking his current post as the Gilbert T. Rowe Professor of Theological Ethics at Duke Divinity School, with a joint appointment at the Duke University School of Law. Throughout his career, he has worked to emphasize the importance of virtue and character within the Church. Stanley Hauerwas has been an outspoken Christian pacifist and promoter of non-violence.
Timothy Gorringe - University of Exeter
The Reverend Professor Timothy Gorringe worked in parishes for six years before going to South India to teach Theology at the Tamil Nadu Theological Seminary, where he worked for seven years. His links with India remain close. On return to Britain he was for nine years a Chaplain, Fellow and Tutor in Theology at St John's College, Oxford. In 1995 he became Reader in Contextual Theology at St Andrew's and in 1998 took up his present post as St Luke's Professor of Theological Studies. His academic interests focus on the interrelation between theology, social science, art and politics. His most recent major book is A Theology of Culture. He is currently writing a second book on the built environment.
John Rogerson - University of Sheffield (Emeritus)
The Reverend Professor John W. Rogerson studied Theology and Semitic Languages at the Universities of Manchester, Oxford, and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was ordained to the Anglican ministry in 1964, in which he remains active. His publications cover the geography, history and social background of the Old Testament, the history of biblical interpretation, and the use of the Bible in social, moral, political and environmental issues. His published work has been recognized by the award of honorary degrees by the University of Aberdeen, the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena and the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau.
