Courses offered by the Centre

We offer courses to undergraduates, postgraduates and to professionals wishing to continue their development.

Self-funding Students

Students wishing to learn language in addition to their degree course, the course fees will be as follows:
For a 2 Semester (20 credit) course £250
For a 1 Semester (10 credit) course £150

For members of the public wishing to join a course, the following rates apply:
For a 2 Semester (20 credit) course £300
For a 1 Semester (10 credit) course £200
For those who are unemployed or retired the student rates apply.

New modules for 2011-12

MLT121/MLT122 INTERCULTURAL TANDEM 10 credit module. The 10 credit module runs both in Autumn and Spring. Students are introduced to a tandem partner from another culture. Cultural agility is developed from tandem meetings and reflection in a learner journal. Students are supported by tandem advisers and online tutorials and tasks.

MLT117/MLT218 BEGINNERS GREEK 10 credit modules. The course runs Autumn and Spring with the Spring module carrying on from the previous one to build up further knowledge. No pre-requisites. For absolute beginners, the module aims to provide a basic grounding practical in language skills.

MLT125 ONLINE BEGINNERS SPANISH 10 credit module. The 10 credit module runs both in Autumn and Spring. For absolute beginners, the module aims to provide a basic grounding in practical language skills. There are 4 face to face evening classes with a language tutor during the semester. The course materials covering all language skills are provided online with weekly task sheets and email contact with your tutor.

New MLT 120 Intercultural Awareness With A Language

Learners can choose either Beginners´ Italian, Beginners´ Spanish or Post GCSE French.
The majority of this module will be delivered online. Students will be required to complete a weekly set of language tasks and attend 4 evening classes. There will also be delivery online of a series of seminars and tasks raising intercultural awareness, including the development of the attitudes and skills underpinning the intercultural competence necessary to operate successfully in a different culture.
