About the course

1 year full-time/2 years part-time

The course covers a range of relevant science, environmental engineering and management disciplines. You'll develop the skills you need to assess, restore and manage the quality of urban land and water for urban regeneration and development.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2:1 honours degree in a relevant science, engineering or management subject.

We'll consider your application if you have appropriate professional qualifications and work experience, but you'll need a strong background in the areas covered on the course.

English language requirements for overseas students

Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Fees and funding

You may be eligible for financial support. Full-time students that have accepted a place with us can apply for a bursary to cover fees and some living expenses.

Study options

You can study full-time, part-time over two years, or through our flexible route, specifically designed for people working full-time. You accumulate credits over a maximum of five years. Most modules are taught in two or three week blocks for full flexibility.

The MSc(Eng) course can form Part 2 (Further Learning) of the educational base for Chartered Engineer status. For details see www.ice.org.uk

Make the most of your masters

This is one of the largest and most active civil engineering departments in the UK. We have over 30 academic staff and around 120 postgraduate taught and research students.

Our extensive research is the foundation for your study. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 100 per cent of our research was 'internationally recognised'; 85 per cent was 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

Specialist facilities

We have completely new instrumentation in vibration engineering, environmental engineering and nanotechnology. Our laboratories are equipped to a very high standard, with specialist facilities for each area.
