Year 2


There are three routes through the Archaeology and History programme at Level 2.

  • Students taking a 'Archaeology Major/History Minor' route (80 credits Archaeology/40 credits History) will take 40 credits from 2A, 60 credits from 2B and 20 credits from 2C.
  • Students taking a 'Archaeology Minor/History Major' route (40 credits Archaeology/80 credits History) will take 40 credits from 2A, 20 credits from 2B and 60 credits from 2C.
  • All other students (60 credits Archaeology/60 credits History) will take 40 credits from 2A and 40 credits from each of 2B and 2C.

A student taking at least 40 credits from 2Ci may choose to take 20 of these credits from unrestricted F5 units.

A student taking HST209 must take another taught HST module.


2Civ

A student may take an alternative AAP Level 2 module up to the value of 20 credits, with the express permission of the Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching.


2Cv

A student may take approved units AAP2020 - Professional Experience and Development 0 credits ACAD YR and AAP244 Archaeological Field Practice O credits ACAD YR.  


2D

A student undertaking a semester of study abroad under the ERASMUS MUNDUS / Study Abroad schemes will normally be exempt from Regulations 2A, 2B and 2C above.

A student will take units to the value of 60 credits from the following: (i) either AAP220 or HST202 or an alternative core module to the value of 20 credits as approved by the Head of Department.  (ii) AAP or HST units to the value of 40 credits as approved by the Heads of Departments.

Year 3


YA

Before proceeding to the final year a student will spend one session in an appropriate country, in attendance as a full time students at a university or other approved institution; the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department.

Usually, a student will take AAP3900 during the year abroad, unless they are studying at one of History's Erasmus partner institutions.

  • All other students (60 credits Archaeology/60 credits History) will take either (i) 40 credits from 3A and 20 credits from 3B and 40 credits from 3C and 20 credits from 3Di or 3Diii or (ii) 60 credits from 3B and 40 credits from 3C and 20 credits from 3Dii.
