A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Head of Department. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering (ACSU04).

4C

A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take ACS495 Year in Industry. The appropriateness of the placement will be determined by the Head of Department. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of MEng Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering (ACSU04).

4D

ACSU40 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department. The Year in Industry will be assessed using: (a) a short written report; (b) a post-placement poster/presentation. No grades will be awarded for the Year in Industry which will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering (ACSU04).

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng in Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering with a Year in Industry (ACSU40). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng in Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering (ACSU03) but this qualification will not be accredited by the relevant professional institutions.

7

A student must pass ACS6420 (Advanced Project) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering with Year in Industry (ACSU40). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be awarded the Degree of BEng in Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering with a Year in Industry (ACSU41) but this qualification will not be accredited by the relevant professional institutions.

8

A student must pass a minimum of 100 credits at Level 5 in order to be awarded the degree of MEng Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering with a Year in Industry with accreditation by the IET and InstMC. A student who passes a minimum of 90 but fewer than 100 credits at Level 5 will, in accordance with the General Regulations, be awarded the degree of MEng Intelligent Systems and Control Engineering with a Year in Industry, but without accreditation.
