A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Computer Systems Engineering (ACSU02).
4C
A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take ACS495 Year in Industry. The appropriateness of the placement will be determined by the Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of MEng Computer Systems Engineering (ACSU02).
4D
ACSU44 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Departmental Director of Learning and Teaching. The Year in Industry will be assessed using: (a) a short written report; (b) a post-placement poster/presentation. No grades will be awarded for the Year in Industry which will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the MEng Computer Systems Engineering (ACSU02).

A student must pass ACS6420 (Advanced Project) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Computer Systems Engineering with Year in Industry. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be awarded the Degree of BEng in Computer Systems Engineering with a Year in Industry (ACSU45) but this qualification will not be accredited by the relevant professional institutions.
7
A student must pass a minimum of 100 credits at Level 5 in order to be awarded the degree of MEng Computer Systems Engineering with a Year in Industry with accreditation by the IET and InstMC. A student who passes a minimum of 90 but fewer than 100 credits at Level 5 will, in accordance with the General Regulations, be awarded the degree of MEng Computer Systems Engineering with a Year in Industry, but without accreditation.
