3B

A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Aerospace Engineering Board of Examiners. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Aerospace Engineering (AERU10) or the Degree of BEng Aerospace Engineering (AERU11).


3C

A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take AER390 Year in Industry. The appropriateness of the placement will be determined by the Aerospace Engineering Director of Undergraduate Studies. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of MEng Aerospace Engineering (AERU10). A student will take AER390 Year in Industry before proceeding to Level 3.


3D

AER390 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Aerospace Engineering Director of Undergraduate Studies. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Aerospace Engineering (AERU10).


3E

During Level 3, a student must attain a satisfactory standard in a Flight Laboratory Course, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Aerospace Engineering Board of Studies.

A student must pass the Aerospace Individual Investigative Project (ACS488 / AER488 / COM488 / EEE488 / MAT488 / MEC488) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng Aerospace Engineering with a Year in Industry. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be  permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng Aerospace Engineering with a Year in Industry (AERU15).

Before proceeding to Level 3, a student must pass AER120 Introduction to Aerospace Design, including attaining a satisfactory standard in (a) Engineering Applications, and (b) Engineering Drawing and Computer-aided Design,  the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Aerospace Engineering Board of Studies.

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng Aerospace Engineering with a Year in Industry (AERU14). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng Aerospace Engineering (AERU11).
