1B

Subject to the approval of the Head of School, a student would have satisfied the Examiners in respect of a unit but for failure in one or more components of that unit, the student may be required to re-sit only in respect of that component or those components. Where the student satisfied the Examiners in the re-sit examination, the grade for the unit will be determined as if a bare pass had been awarded only in respect of that component or those components.

A student must have passed the First University Examination before proceeding to Level 2.

2B

Subject to the approval of the Head of School, students who fail first and resit attempts may be permitted to retake one or more units. A student who fails to satisfy the Examiners in respect of any unit at Level 2 may (subject to the General Regulations as to Progress of Students) enter for a subsequent examination in respect of the unit on one or more occasions. A student satisfying the Examiners in a subsequent examination will be awarded a bare pass grade in respect of that component. In the event that the grade achieved following a subsequent examination is lower than that achieved on a previous occasion, the higher grade will be awarded.


2C

3B

For students intending to proceed to the degree of MArch in Architecture (ARCU126), MArch in Architecture and Town and Regional Planning (ARCU127), MArch in Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ARCU129) or MArch in Architecture: Collaborative Practice (ARCU13) the provisions of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression from Level 2 to Level 3 for students pursuing integrated Master's programmes shall not apply to this programme.


3C

A student must be awarded one hundred and twenty credits at Level 3 in order to be eligible for the award of the BA in Architecture and Landscape. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be recommended instead for the award of the Degree of BA in Architectural Studies and Landscape (ARCU106).


3D

The provisions of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to Level weighting shall not apply to this programme. A grade awarded at Level 3 has three times the weight of a grade awarded at Level 2.


3E

Following the failure of any Level 3 module, a student who subsequently passes these units on resit shall be exempted from Regulation 36 of the General Regulations for First Degrees and may still be considered for the award of Honours as outlined in Regulatuion 44 of the General Regulations for first degrees.


3F

Following the failure of an Autumn Semester Level 3 module to the value of ten credits, subject to the approval of Head of Department, a student will be allowed to resit the module within the same academic session.


3G

Where the student satisfied the Examiners in the re-sit examination, the grade for the unit will be determined as if a bare pass had been awarded only in respect of that component or those components.
