MARCH (UG) Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ARCU129)     FT

Year 1


A person may be admitted as a student who

(a) has reached a standard in ‘ARCU102 BA Architecture and Landscape’ satisfactory to the Faculty; and

(b) has been exempted from the Part 1 Examination of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Part 2 Examination of the Landscape institute, or a qualification recognised by the Board as equivalent.


The Faculty may, in addition, require a student to have had relevant practical experience, gained away from the University, before commencement of the programme of study.

In this instance, a student will be initially registered on ARCU125, ‘Architecture –Year In Practice’, with the expectation of progression to ARCU129 upon completion of the practical experience. A person who has completed an equivalent course of practical experience at another institution may also be admitted.


The programme of study will be pursued for two sessions full time.

 The Part I Examination will be held during the first session. A student will pass all units before proceeding to the second session.

The Part II Examination will be held during the second session.

A student must achieve a mean grade of not less than 49.5 in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MArch in Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

A student who satisfies the requirements for the award of the Degree of MArch in Architecture and Landscape Architecture may on the recommendation of the Examiners be awarded a mark of distinction.
