1B

A student must pass units CIV1000, CIV150, CIV1900, MAS151 and MAT1600 to proceed to Level 2.


1C

A student will be expected to pass FCE1001 (Global Engineering Challenge Week) in order to proceed to Level 3. A student must pass this module in order to graduate.

2B

At the discretion of the examiners, a student must pass units CIV2100, CIV2200, ARC126 and CIV2501 to proceed to Level 3.


2C

A student will be expected to pass FCE2001 (Engineering - You're Hired) in order to proceed to Level 3. A student must pass this module in order to graduate.


2D

If a student is awarded a minimum of 100 credits at Level 2 and obtains a weighted mean grade equal to or greater than 54.5, then at the discretion of the examiners they may be permitted to transfer to MEng Structural Engineering with Architectural Studies with a Year in Industry (CIVU119) provided they fulfil the requirements of that programme.

Year 3

3A
A student will take

CIV395  Year in Industry ACAD YR 120 credits

3B

A student will take CIV395 Year in Industry before proceeding to Level 5. A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take CIV395 Year in Industry. The appropriateness of the placement will be determined by the department's Year in Industry Tutor. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the degree of BEng in Structural Engineering with Architectural Studies (CIVU20).


3C

CIV395 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the department's Year in Industry Tutor. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the degree BEng Structural Engineering with Architectural Studies (CIVU20).

CIV3201  Integrated Design Project - Concept Design Stage SPR SEM 20 credits
CIV3202  Individual Project SPR SEM 30 credits
CIV3204  Integrated Design Project - International Report and Individual Portfolio SPR SEM 10 credits

4B

A student who does not pass CIV3202 (Individual Project) at the first attempt will be ineligible for the award of the Degree with Honours.


4C

If a student achieves a Level 3 autumn semester weighted mean grade (excluding MGT388) equal to or greater than 59.5 then at the discretion of the examiners they may be permitted to transfer onto MEng Structural Engineering with Architectural Studies with a Year in Industry (CIVU119). In this instance, CIV387 will be substituted for MAS380.
