CIV1900 has a field course component.
A student must pass units CIV1000, CIV104, CIV1200, CIV150, CIV1900, MAS151 and MAT1600 to proceed to Level 2.
A student must pass units CIV2100, CIV2300, CIV2500, FCE1001 and FCE2001 to proceed to Level 3.
A student must have been awarded a minimum of 100 credits at Level 2 and obtained a weighted mean grade greater than or equal to 54.5 to proceed to Level 3. A student who does not fulfil these criteria will be transferred onto the BEng Civil Engineering programme (CIVU17).
A BEng Civil Engineering (CIVU17) student may return to CIVU16 in Level 3 following the February Board of Examiners, if (a) their autumn semester level 3 weighted mean grade is equal to or greater than 60 (excluding MGT388); and (b) if the student has taken MAS380 and CIV337 in the autumn semester. In this instance CIV387 will be substituted for CIV386 for the MEng progression requirement.
A student must have been awarded a minimum of 110 credits to proceed to Level 4. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to be awarded the Degree of BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17) but will be ineligible for the award of that Degree with Honours.
A student must pass CIV4000 Individual Research Project or CIV4004 European-Based Individual Research Study at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU16). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to be awarded the Degree of BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17) but will be ineligible for the award of that Degree with Honours.
