1B

Students commencing Level 1 of a programme of study from session 2016-17 onwards must take FCE1001 Faculty Global Engineering Challenge Week as a core module. A student will be expected to pass the module in order to progress to Level 3. A student must pass the module in order to graduate.

2B

At the discretion of the examiners, a student must pass units CIV2100, CIV2300, CIV2500 and MAT2600 to proceed to Level 3.


2C

Students commencing Level 2 of a programme of study from session 2016-17 onwards must take FCE2001 Engineering – You’re Hired as a core module. A student will be expected to pass the module in order to progress to Level 3. A student must pass the module in order to graduate.

 


2D

If a student is awarded a minimum of 100 credits at Level 2 and obtains a weighted mean grade equal to or greater than 54.5, then at the discretion of the examiners they may be permitted to transfer onto either MEng Civil Engineering (CIVU16) or MEng Civil and Structural Engineering (CIVU03) provided they fulfil the requirements of that programme.

3C

For all students.

A student who does not pass CIV3202 (Individual Project) at the first attempt will be ineligible for the award of the Degree with Honours.

 


3D

For all students.

If a student achieves a Level 3 autumn semester weighted mean grade (excluding MGT388) equal to or greater than 59.5 and has taken MAS380 (Computational Engineering Mathematics) then, at the discretion of the examiners, they may be permitted to transfer onto MEng Civil Engineering (CIVU16) if they have taken CIV337 (Urban Drainage Engineering) or onto MEng Civil and Structural Engineering (CIVU03) if they have taken CIV321 (Multi-Storey Building Design). In this instance, CIV387 will be substituted for CIV386.


3E

For students commencing Year 1 of a programme of study in or after September 2022.

A student who has been awarded credit in compensation of failed units in Years 2 and 3 will be permitted an additional resit attempt in the compensated credits. An additional resit attempt can only be granted where the student has met the requirements for progression (or completion) under the General Regulations for First Degrees.

A student who has been awarded credit in compensation of failed units in Years 2 and 3, where the grade achieved is more than 10% below the pass grade in those failed units, may not be recommended for a degree award that is accredited under Engineering Council rules.

A student who has been awarded more than 30 credits in compensation of failed units across Years 1, 2 and 3, may not be recommended for a degree award that is accredited under Engineering Council rules.

Where a student has met the requirements for the award of a degree under the General Regulations for First Degrees but not the requirements for the award of a degree accredited under Engineering Council rules, they may be recommended for the award of BEng Civil Engineering Technology.
