A student will be expected to pass FCE1001 (Global Engineering Challenge Week) in order to proceed to Level 3. A student must pass this module in order to graduate.
At the discretion of the examiners, a student must pass units CIV2100, CIV2300, CIV2500 and MAT2600 to proceed to Level 3.
A student will be expected to pass FCE2001 (Engineering - You're Hired) in order to proceed to Level 3. A student must pass this module in order to graduate.
At the discretion of the examiners, a student must have been awarded a minimum of 100 credits at Level 2 and obtained a weighted mean grade of equal to or greater than 54.5 to proceed to Level 3. A student who does not fulfil this criteria may be transferred to the BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17).
At the discretion of the examiners, a student must have obtained a weighted mean grade of greater than or equal to 54.5 at Level 3 in order to proceed to Level 4. A student who does not fulfull this criteria may be transferred to the MEng in Civil and Structural Engineering (CIVU03).
A student must have been awarded a minimum of 110 credits to proceed to Level 4. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to be awarded the Degree of BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17) but will be ineligible for the award of that Degree with Honours.
A student will take CIV395 Year in Industry before proceeding to Level 5. A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take CIV395 Year in Industry. The appropriateness of the placement will be determined by the department’s Year in Industry Tutor. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of MEng Civil and Structural Engineering (CIVU03).
CIV395 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the department’s Year in Industry Tutor. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng in Civil and Structural Engineering (CIVU03).
A student must pass CIV4000 (Individual Research Project) or CIV4004 (European-Based Individual Research Study) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Civil and Structural Engineering with a Year in Industry (CIVU30). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to be awarded the Degree of BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17) but will be ineligible for the award of that Degree with Honours.
