A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of BSc Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science (COMU117).

A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take COM390 Year in Industry. The appropriateness of the placement will be determined by the Industrial Placement Officer. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of BSc Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science (COMU117).

COM390 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Director of Undergraduate Studies. The Year in Industry will be assessed on (a) written reflections on a skills-based placement journal; (b) two written reports; and (c) a post-placement presentation. No grades will be awarded for the Year in Industry which will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BSc Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science (COMU117).
