A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 59.5 or above at Level 1 and Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year Abroad, progression being at the discretion of the Board of Examiners. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Chemical Engineering (CPEU03) or the Degree of BEng Chemical Engineering (CPEU02).

A student who does not pass CPE421 (Design Project) at the first attempt will be ineligible for the award of the Degree with Honours.

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng Chemical Engineering with a Year Abroad (CPEU22). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Board to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng in Chemical Engineering (CPEU02).
