Before proceeding to level 3, a student will undertake one year of language tuition including a period spent in Japan, with the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department. A student will also attend suitable courses in Spanish to be approved by the Head of the School of Languages and Cultures. Where a student would have satisfied the Examiners in respect of a 20 credit HSS unit but for failure in one or more components of that unit, the Examiners may recommend that the student be required to re-sit only in respect of that component or those components. Where the student satisfied the Examiners in the re-sit examination, the grade for the unit will be determined as if a bare pass had been awarded only in respect of that component or those components.
