A student must pass both FCE1001 and FCE2001 in order to progress to Level 3.
A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Head of Department. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a candidate for the Degree of BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEEU59).
A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take EEE394. The placement will be subject to the approval of the Head of Department. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a candidate for the Degree of BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEEU59).
EEE394 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEEU59).
A student who does not pass EEE380 (Individual Design Project) at the first attempt will be ineligible for the award of the Degree of BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Year in Industry with Honours.
A student must pass a minimum of 100 credits at Level 3 in order to be recommended for the award of the degree of BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Year in Industry with accreditation (Partial CEng) by the IET. A student who fails to gain 100 credits at Level 3, but otherwise satisfies the General Regulations, will be recommended for the award of the degree of BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Year in Industry but without accreditation. This applies to any student who enters any degree programme in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering from September 2017 onwards.
