4B

A student must normally achieve a weighted grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Course Director. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng Engineering (Software Engineering) (GEEU20).


4C

A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take GEE303 Engineering Year in Industry. The appropriateness of placement will be determined by the Course Director. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of MEng Engineering (Software Engineering) (GEEU20). A student will take GEE303 Engineering Year in Industry before proceeding to Level 4.


4D

GEE303 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Course Director. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of MEng in Engineering (Software Engineering) (GEEU20).

5C

A student must pass the Individual Advanced Project (GEE401) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng Engineering with a Year in Industry (GEEU21). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to be awarded the Degree of BEng Engineering with a Year in Industry (GEEU43).

A student must pass a minimum of 100 credits at Level 4 in order to be awarded the degree of MEng Engineering with a Year in Industry with accreditation.

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng Engineering with a Year in Industry (GEEU21). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to (a) at the end of Level 2 become a candidate for the Degree of BEng Engineering with a Year in Industry (GEEU43), or (b) at the end of Level 3 become a candidate for the unaccredited Degree of BEng Engineering Technology (GEEU46). A student who fails the Individual Advanced Project at Level 4 or who chooses to withdraw from the University at the end of Level 3 may be awarded the unaccredited Degree of BEng Engineering Technology (GEEU46).
