A student will be expected to pass the module in order to progress to Level 3. A student must pass the module in order to graduate.

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of BEng Engineering (GEEU27). A student must normally achieve a weighted grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Course Director. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng General Engineering (Energy & Sustainability) (GEEU26).

A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take GEE303 Engineering Year in Industry. The appropriateness of placement will be determined by the Course Director. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of BEng General Engineering (Energy & Sustainability) (GEEU26). A student will take GEE303 Engineering Year in Industry before proceeding to Level 4.

GEE303 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Course Director. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng in General Engineering (Energy & Sustainability) (GEEU26).

A student must pass the Individual Project (GEE302) at the first attempt or score over 40 in the advanced individual project (GEE401), in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of BEng General Engineering with a Year in Industry (GEEU27) with accreditation. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to be awarded an unaccredited Degree of BEng Engineering (GEEU46).

A student must pass a minimum of 100 credits at Level 3 in order to be awarded the degree of BEng General Engineering with a Year in Industry with accreditation. A student who passes a minimum of 90 but fewer than 100 credits at Level 3 will, in accordance with the General Regulations, be awarded the degree of BEng Engineering, but without accreditation.
