A student must normally pass MAT6670 Practical, Modelling and Digital Skills at the first attempt in order to proceed to MAT6040 Project and thus be eligible for the award of MSc(Eng) in Nuclear Materials Engineering and Science. A student who fails to satisfy this requirement will become instead a student of the Postgraduate Diploma in Nuclear Materials Engineering and Science (MATT08).

The Head of Department may, if a student fails more than thirty credits in Semester 1 and in accordance with procedures approved by the Faculty, require a student who has taken the programme of study prescribed at 1A and 1B above to become instead a student for the Degree of Postgraduate Certificate in Nuclear Materials Engineering and Science (MATT09).

A student who has been awarded one hundred and twenty credits in respect of units listed at 1A, 1B and 1C above and who does not proceed to complete the requirements for the Degree of MSc(Eng) will be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Nuclear Materials Engineering and Science (MATT08).

A student who has been awarded sixty credits in respect of units listed at 1A and 1B above and who does not proceed to complete the requirements for the Degree of MSc(Eng) will be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Nuclear Materials Engineering and Science (MATT09).

In the event of failure of MAT6040 listed at 1C at the first attempt, any resubmission is subject to the approval of the Board of Examiners.
