There are 3 routes through Level 1. A student should choose either:
Route A (1 Language) take 1 group of modules listed in 1A (40 credits).
Route B (2 Languages) take 2 groups of modules listed in 1A, or 1 group from 1A and 1 group from 1B (80 credits).
Route C (3 Languages) take at least 1 group from 1A and 2 additional groups either from 1A or 1B (120 credits).
Students who wish to study only 1 language will choose that language from French, German, Russian or Spanish.
Students should contact the School of Languages & Cultures directly for details of typical optional modules at Level 2.
Before proceeding to the final year a student will spend a half session in each of the countries appropriate to the Major Subjects studied, in attendance as a full-time student at a university or other approved institution, or gaining appropriate academic or professional experience, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of School.
Students should contact the School of Languages & Cultures directly for details of typical optional modules at Level 4.
Before proceeding to Level 1, a student will attain both 120 credits and a weighted mean grade of 60.0 or above; a student with 120 credits and a weighted mean grade of between 57.0 and 59.9 may be permitted to proceed at the discretion of the Board of Examiners and the cognate department.
