A student must pass MEC464 (Individual Project) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Mechanical Engineering with a Year Abroad (MECU024). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be awarded the Degree of BEng in Mechanical Engineering (MECU002).

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees in the Faculty of Engineering as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng in Mechanical Engineering with a Year Abroad (MECU024). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements, or chooses to withdraw from the University at Level 3, may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng in Mechanical Engineering (MECU002). In this instance, in order to achieve a degree accredited by the IMechE, the student must pass at the first attempt either MEC329 Additional Individual Project or, if they have previously completed MEC307 Group Design Project, MEC331 Individual Extension to Group Design Project.
