MPHYS Physics with Study in Australasia (PHYU24)     ML

2017 - 2018

FOR STUDENTS WHOSE INITIAL REGISTRATION WAS PRIOR TO THE 2015-16 SESSION
 
 

Year 1


1A

A student will take the programme of study prescribed at Level 1 in the Regulations for the Degree of MPhys in Physics (PHYU02) or MPhys in Theoretical Physics (PHYU16).


1B

A student must achieve a weighted mean grade of 59.5 or above at Level 1 to continue as a student for the Degree of MPhys in Theoretical Physics with Study in Australasia (PHYU24). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be required by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of MPhys in Physics (PHYU02).

Year 2


2A

A student shall take the programme of study prescribed at Level 2 in the Regulations for the Degree of MPhys in Physics (PHYU02) or MPhys in Theoretical Physics (PHYU16).


2B

A student must achieve a weighted mean grade of 59.5 or above at Level 2 to continue as a student for the Degree of MPhys in Physics with Study in Australasia (PHYU24). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be required by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BSc in Physics (PHYU01) or BSc in Theoretical Physics (PHYU04). 

Year 3


3

A student shall take an approved programme of study at an institution in Australasia (PHYU24).

During this period the student shall undertake programmes of study and attain a standard deemed satisfactory by the Faculty taken in the host institution which shall carry the value of one hundred and twenty credits.  A student who fails to satisfy  this requirement may be required by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BSc in Physics with Study Abroad (PHYU35) or BSc in Theoretical Physics with Study Abroad (PHYU36).

 

Year 4


4A
  A student will take either
(a) the programme of study prescribed at Level 4 in the Regulations for the Degree of MPhys in Physics (PHYU02) or MPhys in Theoretical Physics (PHYU16)
  or, subject to the approval of the Director of Teaching
(b) PHY480 F7 Research Project in Physics and Astronomy 40
(c) units to the value of eighty credits from the following, not more than twenty credits to be taken from (ii)
(i) the list under Level 4B of PHYU02, plus PHY449
(ii) the list under Level 3A of PHYU02, omitting PHY340


4B

A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression to continue as a student for the Degree of MPhys in Physics with Study in Australasia (PHYU24). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be required by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BSc in Physics with Study Abroad (PHYU35) or BSc in Theoretical Physics with Study Abroad (PHYU36).
