Before proceeding to the final year, a student will spend one year in Russia, or in a Russian-speaking environment, in attendance as a full-time student at a university or other approved institution, or gaining appropriate academic or professional experience, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of School. During the year abroad, the student will be strongly encouraged to undertake some study of Japanese, if possible by taking classes, and otherwise by private study.
