Sir William Siemens Medal 2010 - Winner!
We are pleased to announce that ACSE Computer Systems Engineering final year student Narmada Herath has been selected as the Sheffield University winner of the Sir William Siemens Medal 2010.
The calibre of competing nominees was extremely high and to be chosen as the winner of the medal is a tremendous achievement. A formal presentation day for Narmada plus guests and tutors will be held in Manchester during April 2011 to celebrate the award.
The Sir William Siemens Medal has a long history within Siemens. The current medal programme was conceived in 1993, the year Siemens celebrated its 150th anniversary in the UK. The first Sir William Siemens Medal was in fact awarded back in 1883 by London University’s Imperial College, so this present day programme revives a tradition more than 100 years old.
