THEMIS Spacecraft Launched
After two delays due, the first due to a fuelling problem and the second strong winds the five THEMIS spacecraft have been launched on Saturday, 17 February 2007 at 23:01 UK time from Cape Canaveral, Florida by Delta II rocket.
The goal of the THEMIS project is to investigate the physics of geomagnetic disturbances such as magnetic storms and sub-storms. Professor M. Balikhin and
Dr. S. Walker of the Sheffield Space Systems Group are going to analyse data provided by THEMIS spacecraft.
