Fundraising

Through Sheffield RAG (Raising And Giving), our students run a huge range of events every year – from cake sales to sponsored hitch-hikes. In 2010-11 their efforts brought in a staggering sum of more than £200,000 for good causes.

Our students share our pride in the city we all call home. They don't just study in Sheffield: they live here and belong here. So they donate 85 per cent of all the money raised through RAG to organisations in our local area. Sheffield Children's Hospital, Edale Mountain Rescue and Heeley City Farm are just some of the groups who've seen the benefits.

For some years the University of Sheffield has included a Give as You Earn scheme as part of the staff package. This enables tax free charitable donations through the payroll, ‎and has earned the University a Bronze Award from the Charities Aid Foundation. The Give As You Earn scheme enables staff to make tax-efficient donations to the charities of your choice direct from their salary.
