The BeCause Team are pleased to announce we have still have a healthy stock of BeCause bike bells to give away for free. Get that classic "tri-tring" sound while showing you support the BeCause initiative- BeCause we're trying to make things better.

Bring It Don't Bin It- BeCause we’re saving tonnes of items and giving them to good causes
May 29th- June 5th 2012 for staff, May 28th-July 8th for students
The Bring It Don't Bin It scheme helps save tonnes of reusable items from the skip. Items go to local homeless and disadvantaged people or help raise money for good causes. The scheme is open to students until July 8th- see www.sheffieldsu.com/bidbi
For staff: Collection bins will be in the Students' Union Plaza from 29 May to 5 June.
Please bring: Clothes, shoes, bags, kitchenware, books, CDs, DVDs, video games, textiles, jewellery, small working electrical items, small items of furniture, bric a brac, toiletries, unopened dried/tinned food.

Low Carbon Estates Event- BeCause we're working together for a sustainable campus
Wednesday 30 May 2012. 1pm – 3.00pm. BMS Conferences Room, Alfred Denny Building
This Low Carbon Estates event is open to all staff. There will be presentations 1-2pm, refreshments, exhibitions and a chance to exchange ideas 2-3pm.

Peregrine Falcons breed successfully at University

A pair of Peregrine Falcons nesting at the University of Sheffield has become Yorkshire's first urban breeding pair, thanks to the concerted efforts of staff and volunteers from the University and the Sheffield Bird Study Group.
Sheffield comes together for community showcase

The University of Sheffield celebrated their involvement in the local community last night (Wednesday 16 May 2012) with a showcase of projects and initiatives designed to strengthen existing links with the city.
Entitled Sheffield Together, the event showed how different University projects are reaching out and making a difference to lives across Sheffield through talks, demonstrations and displays from several areas within the University.
